Fluid Cell Press Systems

Fluid Cell Press (FCP) design has taken many paths to economically
address aircraft industry needs for improved sheet metal forming.
The idea of direct pumping of hydraulic fluid to high pressures,
contained by a thin wall diaphragm or a fluid cell, for use in
forming sheet metal motivated the design of the original "wheelon"
press. A rugged cylindrical press frame was also
required to contain this forming power. This concept was developed
by the Douglas Aircraft Company during the late 1940's to improve
upon the "Guerin Process" trapped rubber box forming
method. Similarly a "clam
shell" press frame with a circular
bed was developed by McDonnell Douglas in the 1960's for their
high volume sheet metal part production requirement.
FFT also represents Fluid Forming
Systems LLC of Wichita KS, for the Worldwide sales and marketing
efforts of new circular bed, "clam shell" press frame
designs.
